ERGIndex examines the relationship between what an organisation says it does, the evidence available to support those commitments, and what appears to happen in operational reality.

The focus is not only on whether policies or documents exist, but whether they are supported by credible evidence and appear to be implemented in practice.

Environmental, Social and Governance

Environmental

ERGIndex examines whether environmental commitments are supported by evidence and reflected in operational practice. This may include resource use, energy, emissions, waste, materials and other environmental impacts relevant to the organisation and its activities

Social

ERGIndex examines whether commitments relating to people and working conditions are supported by evidence and reflected in practice. This may include human rights, working conditions, health and safety, worker voice, equality and responsible supply-chain practices.

Governance

ERGIndex examines whether governance commitments, responsibilities and controls are supported by evidence and reflected in practice. This may include accountability, policies, decision-making, compliance, risk management, procurement and oversight.

Across the organisation and supply chain

ERGIndex can examine information across an organisation and its supply chain, including policies, procedures, reports, supplier information and other available evidence.

The objective is to identify where information appears consistent, where evidence may be missing or contradictory, and where further attention may be useful for decision-making

What ERGIndex looks for

ERGIndex looks for differences between commitments, available evidence and operational reality.

These differences may include missing evidence, inconsistent information, weak implementation, unresolved issues or situations where practice appears to differ from policy.
